Three time’s a charm

By Kaylyn Thornal, Founder & Contributing Writer

The gold hits keep coming for this USA team in this 2012 London Olympics. Here’s my top 3 highlights for Wednesday August 9th.

1. Three-peat!

Misty May Treanor and Kerri Walsh Jennings take home the gold in beach volleyball defeating follow USA Olympian team-mates April Ross and Jennifer Kessy who win silver. This is the third and apparently last gold medal for the duo as Treanor is set to retire.

2. Black Mamba.

Kobe Bryant, who has been somewhat overshadowed by Lebron James and Kevin Durant, took the spotlight in the second half against Australia Wednesday, burying six three-pointers, and finishing with 20 points in Team USA’s 119-86 victory. Bryant said after the game, that he was “looking for something to activate the Black Mamba,” referring to his nickname. Nothing like being shown up by a couple of kids to bring out the venom.

3. Delusional.

Bobby Valentine says Red Sox are a play off team. No doubt he can’t really say anything else in Boston, but is he watching the same debacle we are from the dugout? When your two aces – Josh Beckett and John Lester – are the ring leaders of a pitching nightmare you just have to wonder why Bobby V is still all smiles.

Good luck to the USA Women’s Soccer team! Counting the minutes to your World Cup rematch. Go USA!
