Tiger fans have a lot to cheer about, here’s a few places to do it.

Your Detroit Tigers are now in first place. That’s right—after sweeping the White Sox this weekend and winning 13 of their last 15 games, Detroit now sits one and a half games atop the AL Central. In honor of the recent success, I’m here to give you my top spots with the best drink specials and a great atmosphere to watch the red-hot Tigers.
Nemo’s, Detroit, MI
This is by far one of my favorite local spots. Sports Illustrated even voted Nemo’s the third best sports bar in the country. You can’t really go wrong with that. What I love most about this place is the atmosphere—nothing fancy with a true focus on sports and having a good time. A beer, burger and fries will run you about seven dollars and parking is free—a plus since you’re so close to the ballpark. Here’s a helpful hint: If you’ve got tickets to the game, save your money on parking. Nemo’s offers a shuttle service to and from the game. For a dollar or two, a bus will drop you off at the front gates and pick you up when you’re ready to go. I have to say, I’ve taken advantage of that quite a few times.
Malarkey’s, Southgate, MI
For a more family-friendly atmosphere, Malarkey’s is the way to go. It has definitely become one of my family’s favorite spots to catch a game. With TVs in every corner of the place, there’s really not a bad seat in the house. There are bucket specials during every game and on Tuesdays their large pizzas are half-price. You can feed the family and have a few drinks for around 20 dollars. Does it get much better than that?
Stix, Ypsilanti, MI
A favorite among the locals, Stix is the place to go if you’re looking to watch the game and maybe have a few drinks afterward. The big screens come down for game time and the seasonal beers are always on tap. One of my favorites is Leinenkugel’s Fireside Nut Brown. Not to mention, the kitchen is open all night and menu has something for everyone. Their fresh-baked breadsticks are out of this world. If you end up stopping by Stix to catch a game, be ready to high-five those around you. It’s that kind of place.
