New day for Miami Dolphins, Nadal Out, an Oldie but a Goody, and Pussy Riot in Prison

By Kaylyn Thornal, Contributing Writer

1. Future’s so bright…Miami Dolphins to start rookie Ryan Tannehill against the Carolina Panthers. Could this former Aggie be the future face of Miami? With the release of head-butting Ocho-Chad Johnson-cinco, it seems like a rebuild rather than another patch to stop the bleeding. Too bad for Matt Moore who had a pretty decent season last year considering all the dropped pass balls, fumbles and general buffoonery. Gig ‘em!

2. Bummer. Rafael Nadal pulls out of US Open with knee injury. Said Nadal, “I’ve missed too many important tournaments to continue taking risks. I’ll return when my knee is better.” Everyone will have to wait anxiously for a Nadal/Federer rematch. So calm down everyone.

3. Swan song. Chipper Jones homered twice against the Padres yesterday at Turner Field, as his fairy tale farewell season continues. These were Jones 465th and 466th and the second homer constituted Jones’ 2,700th hit of his career. The Braves have won 17 of their past 22 games.

4. It’s only Rock & Roll. Nothing like a Riot to make you appreciate your American freedom of speech. Russian band Pussy Riot get 2 years imprisonment for hooliganism charges. Apparently performing songs critical of President Vladimir Putin in a church is a big ass no-no.  The band members, 2 of them mothers, have already spent 5 months in detention for screaming, “Mother Mary, please drive Putin away,” in a protest act in February. This definitely deserves a, God bless America…

I would’ve lead with “PUSSY RIOT IN PRISON” but that sounds way too much like an Agnes Morehead 1930′s exploitation film.
