The Arena and Neighborhood:
Prudential Center is located in downtown Newark not far from Rutgers University, Gateway Center (a large commercial complex part and early attempt restore the reputation and rejuvenate business in Newark) and is also just a couple blocks from Newark Penn Station. Prudential Center will be home to the Nets only for a little while longer, when they will move to Brooklyn's Barclays Center currently under construction.
Getting There/Parking:
As is typical in NJ, the arena is surrounded by highways, including the 280, 78, and NJ Turnpike and Garden State Parkway. There are over 3,500 parking spaces near the arena. To book parking in advance at one of the Prudential Center's recommended garages, you can do it right online HERE.
Many of those closest to the arena on Edison or Broad will be $25-30. For additional options, look for parking icons on our "Before & After the Game" map - you can book online as well right through us when you click on the "More" button. Those lots tend to be significantly less expensive and just as convenient.
Public Transportation:
Since Newark Penn Station is so close by, NJ Transit, PATH, Amtrak, Bus or Light Rail are all convenient options.
If coming from Midtown/Lower Manhattan you can take either the NE Corridor or North Jersey Coast Line trains which provide daily service between Penn Station in NY and Penn Station in Newark and is about a 20 minute trip.
You can also check out www.njtransit.com/ for detailed info on the Morris & Essex lines if coming from the NW by rail or bus as well as more info on the Pascack Valley or Main/Bergen Lines to Secaucus Junction if coming from the North. You can connect at Secaucus to NE Corridor or North Jersey Coast Line trains.
Hopstop.com is another great online tool to help you use public transportation around the NYC area so be sure to check that out too if you need it.
