The Stadium and Neighborhood:

The current Madison Square Garden is actually the 4th building to hold that name, and was opened in 1968. Smack in the middle of Manhattan, it's a great location for many reasons. Easily accessible by transportation, there's also a million bars and restaurants within walking distance. There's way too many to list them all - after all it is New York, but check our "Before and After the Game" map for some of our nearby suggestions. From awesome dive-y Irish bars (check out Blarney Rock) to gastropubs focusing on high quality meats (check out The Breslin) to nicer restaurants that offer discounts when you show your ticket post-game (check Seven Bar & Grill), the area does have a little bit of variety, even if it may not be the most charming neighborhood in Manhattan.

Getting There:

Public transportation is the way to go. Penn Station is directly below The Garden between 31st and 34th Streets, the Port Authority Bus Terminal is just a few blocks north between 40th and 42nd Streets, and Grand Central is just a little further between 42nd and 45th. If you're traveling from a more local destination the subway offers several options as well. Take 1,2, or 3 Lines to Seventh Avenue, or the Eighth Avenue subway to 34th Street/Penn Station. You can also exit 34th Street and Avenue of the Americas from the B,D,F,V and N,Q,R,W trains.

If you really really want to drive to the game, there are numerous outdoor parking facilities, although they won't be cheap. There's one on Ninth Avenue between 35th and 36th Streets and a few others that you can book directly online through us and our affiliate Parkwhiz.
