The Arena and Neighborhood:
The Grizzlies moved to Memphis by way of Vancouver in 2001 as an expansion team, and the state of the art FedEx Forum is also home to the University of Memphis Tigers basketball team. It's located in the heart of downtown Memphis on the corner of 3rd and Beale street. It's impossible to not hear music as you approach the stadium and there are many great places to stop pre or post game. Many of the touristy spots will be right there on Beale Street, but there are other options not far away if you want to escape that scene. For specific suggestions please check out our Before and After the Game Section.
Getting There and Parking:
The arena is accessible from I-40, I-55 and I-240, but we suggest that you arrive early because traffic in the area can be bad. Memphis area police suggest that you avoid certain routes due to heavy traffic such as Main Street, Riverside Drive, and Union Avenue.
The standard forum parking is an attached 5 story garage with two entrances. We're not fans of garage parking after large events so for additional tips, check our Before and After the Game section and look for the parking icons.
If you are staying in a nearby hotel, we suggest taking a cab to the stadium. Cabs are prevalent around the area and on Beale street after the event. Pay in cash for cheapest fair and to not be charged with credit card fees. Metro Cab Company: (901) 323-3333.
The MATA Trolley Line Service is another good option. Trolley fare is $1 per trip most times of day. Use the Main Street Line, the Riverside Line or the Madison Avenue line toward the FedExForum. Closest stops are Beale Street and Linden Avenue. For more information and a trolly map (http://www.matatransit.com/trolleyService.aspx)
The MATA Express Shuttle service is also an option if you're coming in from the suburbs. Fares are $8 per person for a roundtrip ride, but pick up and drop off times for each location should be confirmed. You can also get a 10-game pass for $80.
