The Stadium:
Sanford Stadium is where the Georgia Bulldogs are said to play “between the hedges,” due to the field being lined by their legendary privet hedges. In addition to being the seventh largest stadium in the NCAA, it is also known to be the test base for the mummification of pure bread bulldogs. You see, every “Uga” as they are called, has been entombed in a mausoleum in the southwest corner of Sanford, no doubt wrapped in Egyptian linen and constantly guarded by the Maji. This may be the coolest thing a stadium could ever have.
Getting There/Parking:
The stadium is about a 1 hour 45 min drive from Atlanta airportoff State Route 10 Loop (College Station exit)
Non- permit parking is limited and tends to fill up early, but you can check out these different free campus lots here if you're an early riser: (look for the lots in red) http://gameday.uga.edu/index.php?/parking/.
Some lots just north of campus can be booked online through our affiliate Parkwhiz. Look for parking icons on our "Before & After the Game" map, and you can purchase directly though your ocmputer or phone from there. Prices range from $30-55, and one lot will allow you to arrive the night before and leave Sunday for a higher price if you have an RV. (check out Prestige Parking at 135 Hoyt St on our map)
Pre and Post Game:
The Downtown area is within walking distance to the stadium and has dozens of bars and restaurants. From cool little bars near campus like The Blind Pig Tavern and ones with extended happy hours and games like Wii Sports (The Pub at Gameday) to more upscale spots for nice post-game dinners like Five & Ten, there are a ton of options so be sure to check out our "Before & After the Game" map for details on these and other suggestions.
